My boyfriend and I like to have a “theme” for things to do every couple of months. This summer, we decided that we wanted to hit up all of the small/unknown amusement parks that we could find. While researching on Trip Advisor, we stumbled upon an amusement park called Knoebel’s.
Knoebel’s had nothing but hundreds and hundreds of stellar reviews, which was pretty rare for many places to get–so it caught our attention.
Turns out, Knoebel’s is located in Elysburg, PA (about a 3.5 hour drive from our home). After seeing the many awards and TV appearances they have made we thought to ourselves, “How the heck have we NEVER heard of this place before?!”
Believe it or not, when we asked for others opinions on the park, they had never heard of it either! So we just had to go and see this place for ourselves.
To our delight, this hidden gem created an unforgettable experience for us, and I definitely recommend this park to ANYONE who wants to make the trip!
I won’t spoil ALL of the surprises of the park, but I want to share with you some of my favorite features from the park that made it so amazing:
Knoebel’s has 2 wooden coasters, 1 steel coaster, and 1 toboggan-styled coaster (the only one in the world of it’s kind, may I add)!
Each coaster was unique, and quite impressive. They definitely did not disappoint–why don’t you take a look at them for yourself?:
Can you believe that Knoeble’s has TWO museums inside of the park? Yup. TWO. You can find a coal mining/park history museum right next to their pretty spooky mining ride.
They also offer a carousel museum which I LOVED, because I am all about carousels. They are absolutely stunning (and fun!) works of art.
Other perks? Admission to the museums are absolutely free.
You can find just about any type of food at Knoebel’s. I sampled some gator bites and chicken and waffles during my visit. They both were superb.
Something else about Knoebel’s food that is great is that they keep prices LOW. A hamburger and fries was around $5-7 compared to $10-15+ at other amusement parks. They have also won awards for the quality of their food compared to other amusement parks!
My favorite place we dined at was their restaurant called “The Alamo”. That’s where I got my chicken and waffles. The restaurant sported an Alamo theme and offered a wide range of food options!
The Atmosphere of the Park
The cost of admission into Knoeble’s is FREE. You only have to pay for tickets to ride the rides which cost no more than $4/ride.
Knoebel’s also allows dogs into the park, which was exciting for me to see as an animal lover.
They also offer a giant swimming pool, a haunted house, and a few other quirky and exciting things!
Last but definitely not least…the arcades! Arcades are one of my hidden guilty pleasures, and Knoebel’s has TWO of them. They also have an old fashioned bingo house that you definitely need to check out.
The prizes in the arcades are pretty great and they offer games both new and old.
Knoeble’s creates such a great fun and family-friendly atmosphere that EVERYONE can enjoy. I love the fact that Knoebel’s gives you a traditional park feel, but manages to stay updated with current trends!
My boyfriend and I could see why there were very minimal negative reviews of this park. It is definitely a hidden gem here in PA. Be sure to put this park on your bucket list!
